Josh Blunt - Head Coach

Josh Blunt enters his first season as head coach at Lane Community College. Coach Blunt comes to Lane from West Valley College in Saratoga, CA. While at West Valley, Coach Blunt achieved a total record of 167-75 which was the 5th most wins for a community college in the entire 1 State of California. In 2008, he led the Vikings to a state best record of 40-10 and the school’s first ever Final Four appearance.
Prior to coaching at West Valley, Coach Blunt had a brief stop at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA where he was the associate head coach. He was in charge of infielders and catchers as well as coaching 3rd base and running the Seahawk offense.
In 2003, Coach Blunt was an assistant coach at Sam Houston State, a Division I school in Huntsville, TX where he was in charge of catchers and hitters and assisted with recruiting.
From 1999-2002, Coach Blunt was an assistant coach at Florida powerhouse Okaloosa-Walton Junior College (now called Northwest Florida State) in Niceville, FL. His primary responsibilities were to handle the pitching staff and to manage recruiting. His 2001/2002 recruiting class had 14 players that went on to be drafted. During Coach Blunt’s two years at OWCC, the team won the conference and placed second.
Coach Blunt began his college coaching career in 1997 at North Florida Community College in Madison, FL in charge of pitchers and catchers and managing recruiting. While at North Florida, the team achieved an overall record of 98-44. Coach Blunt’s successful recruiting efforts resulted in 20 Sentinel players receiving Division I scholarships.
Coach Blunt earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and his Master’s degree in Kinesiology at Valdosta State University.
Coach Blunt resides in Eugene, OR with his wife Amanda Blunt.
Jeff Lyle - Assistant Coach
2008-present
Assistant Coach Jeff Lyle is entering his fifth season with the Titan program. Coach Lyle serves as the 3rd base coach and works with the outfielders. He also assists with clinics at the University of Oregon, and works with prospects for USA Baseball. Prior to Lane, Lyle coached at Thurston High School in Eugene, Ore, and was an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves organization. A native of California, Lyle played at Merced Junior College and Hancock College before transferring to Fresno State where he finished his playing career.
Shawn Peterson - Assistant Coach
2011-present
Shawn enters his first season at Lane C.C. and his primary responsibility will be to coach infielders and first base. Coach Peterson is a Eugene native who played at North Eugene High school where he was an all conference athlete in both baseball and football. After HS he played 2 years at Lower Columbia where he was a 2nd team all conference selection in 2008 where he hit .336 with 34 RBI, 11 doubles and 4 home runs. Shawn then transferred to the University of Oregon where he is one of two players since the programs reinstatement to hit over .300 for his career. Coach Peterson coaching career began in 2010 where he was the head coach at North Eugene and lead the team to a state tournament invitation.
Demetre Kokoris - Assistant Coach
2011-present
Assistant Coach Demetre Kokoris enters his first season with the Titan program. Coach Kokoris will serve as the pitching coach; he also assists with clinics at the University of Oregon. Coach Kokoris earned his B.S. from the University of South Carolina in Sport and Entertainment Management and his MBA from Cal State Fullerton. While at Fullerton, Coach Kokoris was able to learn from Head Coach George Horton, who in 2010 hired Coach Kokoris at the University of Oregon to work with the Duck Baseball team.
Chance Cornish - Student-Assistant Coach
2011-present
Chance enters his first season on the Titan coaching staff. His primary duties will include working with the catchers, and some bullpen work. A two-sport letter winner (baseball and football) at Liberty, HS in Hillsboro, Chance went on to star for the Titans from 2009-11. Chance played in the NWAACC tournament both years, making his class the first to do so since 2003.
