Another Former Titan Gets Drafted

Former Titan baseball player, Jackson Bertsch, was drafted today by the New York Yankees. Jackson, a right-handed pitcher, last played for Lane in 2015. He finished his collegiate career at Liberty University.

 


Lane baseball sweeps Southwest Oregon

Charlie Patterson and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout as Lane beat Southwest Oregon 5-0 in the second game of an NWAC doubleheader for the sweep Saturday.

Thomas Rudinsky went 3-for-3 with a double to lead an 11-hit attack for the Titans (15-14, 9-4). Patterson improved to 1-3. Southwest fell to 7-22, 5-10.

Jesse Davis (3-2) threw six innings of three-run ball with 10 strikeouts to get the win in the opener. Colton Sakamoto went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

 


Murray helps Lane sweep Clark

Tielar Murray hit a grand slam and drove in six runs to lead Lane to a 10-8 victory over Clark in the opening game of an NWAC Southern Region doubleheader on Friday at Titan Field.

Murray’s grand slam in the seventh inning broke a 6-6 tie for the Titans (11-13). Thomas Rudinsky added three hits for Lane, and Jayden Hanna doubled and drove in a run.

In the second game, Bryce Mulcahy pitched six innings of shutout ball, allowing one hit and striking out 11, to lead Lane to a 3-0 victory and a sweep. Aaron Hutchinson allowed one baserunner in the seventh to earn the save.

Jackson Soto went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs for the Titans.

 


Lane baseball falls to Clark in 10 innings

VANCOUVER — Clark scored one run in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday to tie the score and then scored once in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 4-3 win over Lane in an NWAC baseball game.

Tielar Murray went 3-for-5 with a double to lead the Titans’ 10-hit attack. Colton Sakamoto had a solo home for Lane (9-13, 3-3 NWAC).

The Titans scored their first run in the sixth inning on a passed ball. In the eighth inning, Sakamoto led off with a home run to tie the score at 2-2. Lane took the lead later in the inning when Murray singled, went to second and third on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

The Penguins’ winning run in the 10th when Bryce Roesch singled with two out, advanced on two walks and scored on Cody Rice’s single.

 


Lane baseball takes two games from Mount Hood

Jimmy McDonald’s two-out two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning helped the Lane baseball team rally to a 3-2 win in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep against Mount Hood on Monday.

Jackson Soto had a pair of hits for the Titans (9-12, 3-2 NWAC) in the opener and pitcher Jesse Davis tossed 6 2/3 innings for the win against the Saints (5-15, 3-7).

The Titans won the second game 6-2 in seven innings, with Colton Sakamoto going 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs to raise his batting average to .303. Aaron Hutchinson pitched the seventh inning to pick up his second save of the day.

 


Lane baseball splits pair with Centralia

Lane Community College used a four-run third inning to key a 7-4 win over visiting Centralia on Sunday, but the Trailblazers took advantage of two Titans errors to score twice in the eighth for a 3-1 victory and a split of the nonconference twinbill.

Jimmy McDonald (3-for-4, two RBIs) and Colton Sakamoto (2-for-3, two RBIs) led Lane (6-6) in the opener.

Titans earn shutout of Mount Hood

Jimmy McDonald hit a two-run single in the fourth inning and four Lane pitchers scattered seven hits to lead the Titans to a 3-0 victory over Mount Hood in an NWAC Southern Region baseball game on Tuesday.

Dillon Larsen allowed six hits over six innings to earn the victory for the Titans. Lane added a run in the sixth inning when McDonald scored on a single by Jayden Hanna.

McDonald and Hanna had two hits apiece for the Titans (7-10). Trevor Nannini and Jason Garcia had two hits apiece for Mount Hood (3-13).
