
Top high jumper joins Titans’ track recruits
08/26/2013 14:56The nation’s top high jump prospect is among 12 high school state champions recently signed by the Lane Community College track and field program.
Headlining this year’s class for the Titans, the defending men’s and women’s NWAACC champions, is 2012 Washington state high jump champion Dakaria Hightower, who claimed the U.S. No. 1 high school ranking in 2012 when he won the National Junior Olympic meet at 7 feet, 3 inches.
Incoming Oregon state champions are Trever Walker of Central Linn (discus/shot put), Tanner Eastlick of Crow (discus), Justin Angove of Bandon (hurdles), Jeremy Desrosiers of LaPine (200 and 400 meters), Hayden Schaffner of Siuslaw (800), Kristine Dunn of Cottage Grove (400) and three-time state champion Abi Wynn of Triangle Lake (400, 800 and 1,500). Other notables are Springfield sprinter Jessie Goodier, hurdler Abby Johnston of Hermiston and heptathlete prospect Makenzie Folkerts of Newport.
