CORVALLIS — Lane Community College did all of its damage in the fifth inning on Saturday in an NWAACC Southern Division baseball doubleheader sweep of Linn-Benton.

Chris Reed took a no-hitter into the ninth inning, and Kyle Hoover drove in Shay Huskey with a fifth-inning sacrifice fly to give the Titans (18-12 overall, 9-7 league) a 1-0 win in the opener.

Lane tallied four runs in the fifth in Game 2 for a 4-2 victory.

Reed struck out seven and walked one in the first-game one-hitter. A.J. Schroeder’s single to left in the bottom of the ninth broke up the no-hitter, and left-fielder Quinn Peck threw out Carl Beckert at home on the same play as Beckert tried to score the tying run from second base.

Huskey scored the game’s only run after reaching on a triple in the fifth.

In the nightcap, Matt Myrmo went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Mike Akers was 2-for-4 for the Titans. Reed Nicholson picked up the win after giving up two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings.
