Lane 66 - Centralia 60 [stats]
Despite their having their lowest scoring half of the season, Lane came from a 7 point second half deficit to beat the Centralia College Blazers 66-60 and advance to the third round of the NWAACC Championship tournament.
Neither team scored for almost the first two and a half minutes of the contest, with Lane finally breaking the stalemate with a bucket from post Megan Shields. Lane wouldn't score for nearly five more minutes, but the Titans held Centralia to just six points in that stretch and were able to climb to within one point with just over 11 minutes to play in the first period.
Lane was able to fight for the tie with just over two minutes remaining, but trailed the Blazers at the half, 27-25. Both teams struggled from the field, combining to average less than 28% from the floor.
As the second half began, things started to get a little out of control for Lane. Centralia went on a 7-0 run to take an eight point lead at 35-27 with 15:31 remaining in the game, but Lane still wasn't done. The Titans went on a run of their own, and by the 10:34 mark in the second half, it was a game once again - tied at 43.
With under three minutes remaining, Lane would take the lead for the final time, inching ahead on a field goal from Kersey Wilcox. Those two points were part of a 9-1 run in the latter stages of the game that put Lane up as many as eight, too far ahead to be caught by Centralia.
20 points from Renee Lucero led the Titans, who will move on to the elite eight to face Southern Region foe Chemeketa on Monday evening at 6 p.m.
Centralia drops to the 5th place bracket and will play Bellevue on Monday at 2 p.m.
