
May’s threes help Lane advance
03/06/2011 09:46KENNEWICK, Wash. — Brittany May hit eight three-pointers, giving her 100 for the season, and scored 26 points to lead Lane Community College to an 80-49 rout of Clark in the first round of the NWAACC women’s basketball tournament on Saturday at the Toyota Center.
The victory sets the third-ranked Titans up for a quarterfinal game against No. 2 Columbia Basin at 4 p.m. today.
Ashley Smith added 26 points and 14 rebounds for Lane (23-5), who got out to a 20-point lead by halftime and were never threatened after that. The Titans outrebounded Clark 53-33 and went 14-for-35 from three-point range.
Lacy Kruse led Clark with 16 points and Clara Russell added 13.
