The Titans stretch their winning streak to seven games with two one-run victories

Nic Coffman’s bases-loaded single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in Matt Taylor to cap a four-run rally that gave Lane a 6-5 walk-off victory over Mount Hood to complete a baseball doubleheader sweep at Titan Field on Tuesday.

It was the seventh win in a row for the third-place Titans (15-13, 11-5), who pulled within a game of the Saints (18-8, 11-3) for the South Region lead in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. Linn-Benton (20-8, 12-4), which visits Titan Field for two games on Saturday, is second.

Jarren Goddard led off the seventh for Lane with a home run. A walk to Cody McDonald and singles by Corey Wynant and Taylor loaded the bases for Konner Reddick, who was hit by a pitch to force in McDonald. Then Shaun Boehm also was hit by a pitch, on a full count, to bring in Wynant with the tying run. Coffman then singled on a 1-0 pitch for the game-winner.

The Titans also rallied for a 4-3 victory in the first game. The Saints led 3-1 before Lane tied it with RBI singles by Reddick in the third, following Taylor’s triple, and Daniel Copeland in the fourth.

Coffman, who drove in Taylor with a double for the go-ahead run in the fifth, then shut down the Saints through eight innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts to improve to 4-2. Reddick pitched a perfect ninth for his third save.
