Lane winning streak hits five with sweep at Clark

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Cooper Webster and Drew Smermes combined on a six-hitter to lead Lane to a 3-1 victory over Clark College on Monday for a sweep of their Northwest Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader.

Ben Giland and Brody Rich each had an RBI double for the Titans (19-9, 7-5 South), who have won five in a row. Webster (2-2), who pitched the first five innings, and Smermes struck out six.

In the first game, Lane scored five runs on two hits, four walks and an error in the fourth inning en route to a 5-4 win. Aaron Hutchinson (3-0) struck out six in 4 2/3 innings of relief, and closer Logan Roberts, who’s yet to give up a run and has 16 strikeouts in 10 appearances, earned his fifth save.
