Lane moves to tourney semifinal

Tyler Coleman helps the Titan men hold off the Linfield JV

Tyler Coleman scored 26 points, and Lane Community College rallied in the second half to beat the Linfield JV 81-77 in the first round of the Dale J. Bates men’s basketball tournament at Lane’s gym on Friday night.

The Titans (6-1) also got 15 points from Levi Strandberg and will play Portland CC at 6 p.m. today in a semifinal. Southwestern Oregon will play Spokane in the other semifinals at 4 p.m.

Alex MacNeil and Tyree Newman added nine points apiece for Lane. Brett Cauchi led Linfield with 17 points and Jake Hillier added 14.

Also Friday, Portland CC defeated Redwoods 73-56, Spokane beat Umpqua 86-68 and Southwestern Oregon defeated Pierce 86-83.
