Goddard powers LCC to sweep of Centralia

Cleanup hitter Jarren Goddard went 6-for-8 with two home runs and six RBIs to lead Lane Community College to a 10-1, 7-1 baseball doubleheader sweep of Centralia on Thursday at Titan Field.

The sophomore first baseman out of Thurston High was 4-for-4 with two doubles and in the opener. Jeff Hardy (1-1) allowed four hits and struck out 10 over six innings to earn the win, and Chris Neifert finished with three scoreless innings for the Titans (4-3).

Goddard hit two homers in the second game for four more RBIs. Kyle Watson, a former prep teammate of Goddard’s, added a solo homer, and Jared Priestley (1-0) pitched five innings for his first win.
