Floeck Named Full-Time Assistant Coach

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State cross country and track is pleased to announce the hiring of Travis Floeck as full-time assistant coach, replacing Adam Tribble, announced Wednesday by head coach Kelly Sullivan.

"I am really excited to have Travis with us full-time," Sullivan said. "He spent the past year with us as a non-paid assistant, and not only was the staff and I very impressed, but more importantly the young women in our program stated without question what their wishes were.

He brings all the skills that are necessary for this position and what it entails. We have a lot of work ahead of us with the continued building of the two programs, the upcoming construction of the track and field facility and the day-to-day fundraising that is still out there. Having been here for almost an entire year in the office and seeing what we do and what needs to be done, he was ready to go on day one."

Floeck joined the Oregon State women's cross country and track team as an assistant coach at the beginning of the 2010-11 season after serving as the head cross country and assistant track & field coach at Lane Community College from 2007-2009.

He coached 18 distance Junior College All-Americans, two USATF junior national qualifiers, and an NWACC Champion in the 1,500 meters (Jeremy McAllister) during that time. Floeck was voted Southern Region Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2008, when both Lane squads swept the regional titles.

He graduated with a B.S. in Communication with an emphasis in Journalism from Southern Oregon University in 2010, and also carries a USATF Level One Coaching Certification.

With the promotion of Floeck, Laura Harmon will fill the other assistant coach position. Harmon was a former All-American in cross country at the University of Oregon. She earned multiple All-State honors in cross country and track at Jesuit High School and coached at her high school alma mater for three years.

“We’re really excited to add Laura into the program at a much higher level now,” Sullivan said.
